jager fury 1/14/2009 11:04:39 PM | I saw it tonight at a free physics lecture.
They are able to assemble structures one atom at a time in the lab. They've been doing this for 19 years over in California in IBM labs. Anyways, they have created circuits insanely small which send information in waves. Waves can interpenetrate without interference. Currently we run information in our circuits through wires which can't touch. He estimated 200,000 times more computing power could be had in the same space, over the way we do things now.
The physicist paused in the lecture, and said he wasn't sure what he would do with his lap top with 200,000 times more horsepower in it.
I could.
