Congressional Hearings for Race Day Meds Slated for Monday April 30, 2012

A Bill has been introduced in both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives that would amend the Interstate Horse Racing Act. The Bill would eliminate race day meds and establish a "three strikes and you're out" penalty scale for violators.

The Daily Racing Form is reporting that Congressional Hearings are scheduled to take place on Monday April 30, 2012:

But that is exactly what Hall of Fame rider and NBC Sports broadcaster Gary Stevens will be doing Monday in Pennsylvania, where the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Health will convene at Unionville High School in Kennett Square for a hearing on the subject of “A Review of Efforts to Protect the Health of Jockeys and Horses in Horseracing."
