JCAPPER 2025 DAILY TASK LIST - NORMAL OPERATION

In the Walkthrough video I pointed out Basic Operating Instructions
on the Menu of the TrackWeather Module and the Utilites Screen.

Bring up the TrackWeather Module, hit Menu, and select Basic Operating
Instructions for each of the tasks. Launch the Utilities Screen and
do the same thing.

So how does the TrackWeather Module fit into a daily JCapper task list?

The Daily JCapper Task List Looks like this:

*** On Day 1 (the day the races are run) after updating your database in
Mode 5 your task list is:

1. Download and build JCP files and load them into the program using the
DFM Card Loader.

2. Launch the TrackWeather Module. Important that the TrackWeather Module
remain closed/not open when JCP Files are loaded into the DFM Card Loader.

3. Run a Get Weather History for today's date.

4. Launch the TrackWeather API, run a Precip Summary Report.

5. Run at least one TrackWeather API BOT Mode cycle (maybe several) before
pausing BOT Mode.

6. Bring up Scratch BOT and get Scratches and Changes. Then Pause or x-out
of Scratch BOT depending on how beefed up your machine is in terms of RAM.
It's perfectly ok to x-out of Scratch BOT and relaunch as needed.

7. Run a Calc Races and look at updated reports.

From here, you'll be repeating steps 5-6-7 several times throughout the day.

*** On Day 2 (the day after the races are run) your task list is:

1. Download Chart Files and run an XRD File Build.

2. Launch the TrackWeather Module, bring up the Utilities Screen, and run a
Resolved Races Routine for yesterday's date.

3. X-out of the Utilities Screen and X-out of the TrackWeather Module.
(Important that you shut the TrackWeather Module down.)

4. Run a DBBuild in Mode 5 (unless the DBBuild is for a brand new calendar folder
which next happens for the races of Jan 01 2025) then you run the first DBBuild
on the new folder in Mode 4. Then all subsequent builds on that folder in Mode 5...

From here you're back to Day 1.

DAILY JCAPPER TASK LIST FOR MISSED RACE DATES

*** For race dates where you did not touch your laptop or pc at all this is
the Daily Task List to GET CURRENT:

1. Download Data Files then run a JCP File Build Routine for the missed dates.

2. Download Chart Files and run an XRD File Build Routine for the missed dates.

3. Launch the TrackWeather Module, bring up the Utilities Screen, and run a
Resolved Races Routine for the missed dates. X-out of the Utilities Screen
and X-out of the TrackWeather Module.

4. Run a DBBuild in Mode 5 (unless the DBBuild is for a brand new calendar folder.)
In that case run the first DBBuild on the new folder in Mode 4. After that run
all subsequent builds on the new folder in Mode 5.

That's It! You're current.

OPTIONAL

*** To review Html Reports displaying TrackWeather at time of Race Off for past
races with odds, finish positions, and parimutuel payoffs:

1. Bring up the DFM Card Loader. Load .DAT files for a race date, and X-out of the
DFM Card Loader and DFM.

2. Run a Calc Races.

3. Bring up the Html Report Viewer and look at the Html Report.

You should see Track Weather in the header of the Html Report.

Because the report was generated using .DAT Files you should also see odds, finish
position, parimutuel payoffs on the report, and Track Weather.

That's It!

Recovery Setup Routine

This routine copies critical files to the C:\JCapper\_DB_Recovery folder, and creates a recovery point in the event something goes wrong during a DBBuild.

Run this routine every single time before running a DBBuild.

JCapper 2025 video series:
Getting Current after missed race dates and using .Dat Files to display TrackWeather on a SQL Html Report.

Video #1 - Daily Task List Numbered Steps for:
1. Normal Operation
2. Getting Current after you've missed race dates.
3. Optional/Running a Calc Races using .Dat Files.

Video #2 - Getting Current for the missed Dates:
1. Downloading and Building .JCP Files.
2. Downloading and Building .XRD Files.
3. Running a Resolved Races Routine.
4. Running a DBBuild in Mode 5.

Video #3 - Optional Steps:
1. Load .Dat Files for a past race date using the DFM Card Loader.
2. Run a Calc Races on the loaded .Dat Files.
3. Look at the resulting SQL Html Report.

Notes:

Because the report was generated using .Dat Files:

• You will see odds, finish position, and parimutuel payoffs on the report. Note that you do not have to parse the XML for scratches and changes.

• You will see Track Weather in the report header for each race provided you had the TrackWeather Setting in the Enhanced Settings Module toggled ON (set to 1 or 2) at the time you downloaded and built Chart Files as shown in Video #2, and provided you ran a Resolved Races Routine for the missed date also shown in Video #2.

Displaying Track Weather on a SQL Html Report requires a JCapper Main Module released 01-15-2025 or later.

OP 01-23-2025 Chart File Held Up Now Available

When a Chart File isn't available for download at the HDW site 99% of the time they held it up for a good reason.

This video covers how to process a race card after the chart file was held up and is now available for download:

1. Download the Chart File and run an XRD File Build.

2. Run a Resolved Races for that race card.

3. Run a Recovery Setup followed by a DBBuild in Mode 5.

Monthly TrackWeather.mdb File Archive Routine

Whenever the c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper_TrackWeather.mdb file reaches a file size of 7800KB or larger:

It's time to bring up the Utilities Screen and run the Monthly TrackWeather.mdb File Archive Routine.

Another 'sign' is the TrackWeatherAPI taking too much time to write individual races to the CurrentConditions Table.

TrackWeather One Time API Call All Tracks

Cut and Paste from the Daily Operating Steps on the Bare Bones JCapper 2025 Program Downloads Page:

4. Launch the TrackWeather API, run a Precip Summary Report.

5. Run at least one TrackWeather API BOT Mode cycle (maybe several) before pausing BOT Mode.

6. Bring up Scratch BOT and get Scratches and Changes. Then Pause or x-out of Scratch BOT depending on how beefed up your machine is in terms of RAM. It's perfectly ok to x-out of Scratch BOT and relaunch as needed.

7. Run a Calc Races and look at updated reports.

From here, you'll be repeating steps 5-6-7 several times throughout the day.

Suggestion: Try hitting Menu and selecting the new One Time API Call All Tracks feature at the start of Step 5 above. Doing that ensures that you get updated weather data for all loaded track codes during your next TrackWeather API BOT Mode Cycle no matter what mtp for the next race at each track happens to be.
