Years ago (over a decade) I delved into using a product with a data provider, primarily to use the exports myself in Excel (did not want to rely on canned factors, my ego maybe). As a casual player I learned somethings and then had a handful of plays I could scan the form for if I/We went and find 10 to 12 plays on a Saturday (less on Sundays, why is that?)

Anyway I had five angles, four of which if I was lucky combined would produce two plays on a Saturday. The other one based on claiming horses, would be the bulk of the plays.

This last year, went three times and not one winner from those plays, several excruciating 2nd's and 3rds but no winners.

After looking at this product over the years and wondering, I thought take the plunge. I'm glad I did, the angle I developed predated artificial tracks, well GG is artificial, SA etc are not, then Woodbine, AP.

So first thing I learn is don't use that play, its recoverable, but not the way I did it before. The others are fine.

So, number one for saving money, this product makes sense.
Also i'm working a lot less in excel, because this is truly a useful tool. It's not difficult to get started, but I know it will take effort to master its use. I can leave it for several days, then when I have free time come back update my downloads, append the database, explore more.

So, first this product will save you money, second it is a really excellent tool.

So anyone wondering or lurking like I used to , calculate how much you spend even if you go occasionally, be honest with yourself, cut out some other luxury (I stopped the $3.00 Starbucks Coffee Daily) and this is obvious if you want to enjoy this even as a hobby.

Best

Just wanted to add, a rookie mistake. After playing in the data window for about two weeks, wanted to simulate playing forward. Figured out Calc Races, (I did watch the video, but messed up by not actually selecting first two tries). Wanted to see the picks and how they would do, well Calc Races was taking a long time and lots of horses were flagged. I had all experimental UDM's active:) Everything good bad and indifferent was being flagged.

So that's no big deal, not a request for change, just an example of the learning curve.
