HTML Reports questions |
gdhawley 6/4/2018 9:37:45 AM | Hello,
I have 2 questions regarding the HTML One and HTML Two reports.
1.) How do I add UserFactor6, UserFactor7, and UserFactor8 to HTML One?
2.) Why is HTML Two "blank"? Can I add anything to it?
Thanks!

Q. Why is HTML Two "blank"? Can I add anything to it?
A. HTML One is the report that gets generated when you click the main Calc Races button. By main Calc Races button I mean the button circled in red mouse pen in the screenshot below that when clicked runs a Calc Races for all of the card files loaded into the program for the current active data folder.
HTML two is the report that gets generated when you click the single card or single race Calc Races button that appears after you select a single race card or a single race within the selected race card - circled in red mouse pen in the screenshot below:
If HTML One is populated with data but HTML Two is blank:
That means you've clicked the main Calc Races button and generated HTML One (but you haven't clicked the single race Calc Races button to generate HTML Two.)

A. If you are operating JCapper in SQL Mode you have the ability to customize the layout for the SQL HTML Report.
Start by making a backup of your c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file. (That's the Access file where the report layout for the SQL HTML Report is stored. Having a good backup at the ready makes it easy to undo any errant changes you might accidentally make to the report layout itself.)
After making sure you have a good backup of the c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file:
Click System Settings on the Main Module. Then click Factor Setup Tool on the System Settings Interface.
Here's a link to the Factor Setup Tool Help Doc: http://www.jcapper.com/Article_AddJRating.html
From a strategy standpoint, and assuming that you've read through the Help Doc first...
If you want to add UserFactors 6-7-8 to the SQL Report Layout, working one factor at a time:
1. Fyi, the first few times you edit the report layout I actually recommend sketching out the 12 columns and 4 rows with the names of the factors in the location on the layout where you want each to appear on the report on a piece of paper...
2. You would use Screen One of the Factor Setup Tool to remove a factor that you no longer want in your SQL Factor Setup and replace it with UserFactor6. Then you would replace a second factor you no longer want in your SQL Factor Setup with UserFactor7. And then replace a third factor you no longer want in your SQL Factor Setup with UserFactor8.
3. Next you would use Screen Two to get the names of the 48 factors that you want to display on the SQL Report Layout added to the right-hand side of the interface.
4. Next, working one factor at a time, you would use Screen Three or "The Stacker" interface to get the 48 factors you are going to display on the report into the exact cells where you want them to appear on the report.
5. Next you would use Screen Four to set the display attributes (font, number of decimal places, highlighting, column headers, etc.) for each of the 48 cells on the report layout.
6. Finally, if you want to change the default sql expressions, you could use Screen Five to control/restrict the types of races you see displayed on the report and/or the way the horses on the report are sorted.
It takes a bit of work the first few times you do it -- but in the end the interface pretty much gives you complete control over everything you see on the report...
Not only what your SQL HTML Report looks like -- but if you're willing to think outside the box a little -- certain race types only along with value based sorting of the horses themselves.
