| jeff 9/4/2026 11:15:00 AM | I'm in Pacific Beach. My preferred betting location is right here in my office. I've actually turned down free Breeders Cup tickets at Del Mar offered to me by Equibase because betting from here (with minimal distractions) is far and away superior from a focus and discipline standpoint. That said, the gal who cuts my hair used to work downtown (San Diego) as did the guy who 'proofs' my tax returns. As a result I would go downtown about once a month. Every once in a while, after getting a haircut, I would walk into Striders at 2nd Ave and J Street for lunch and to play a few races (almost always on a Mon or Tues when no major tracks were running.) But that was years ago. Checking online just now Sliders has since closed even though they are still listed as an OTB on the CA Horse Racing Board's website: https://www.offtrackbettingcalifornia.com/ According to Google AI: There is a CA Off Track Betting Location in The Gaslamp called Paddock on 5th located in the space shared by the Gaslamp Tavern and Revel Revel. I've never been in there, and I don't see it listed on the CA Horse Racing Board's website (above.) Probably a good idea to call first before heading there. -jp .
