I rebuilt 3 years and each year has validation files so that makes 6 rebuilds so far. I keep poly tracks seperate from the others.

My problem is that I forgot to move OSA into a poly folder so OSA is part of the non-poly pl_ file. Is there a quick way to edit OSA records out? I thought about opening the file with M$ Word, search for OSA to find the 1st record, delete all the OSA records and save it as txt. Is there a better way other than rebuilding again?

I think M$ Excel might handle the edit too. One more question is what txt format do I save it in? There are about 3 to 5 choices in excel.

You can do the edit without having to go outside of JCapper. Use the Quick Index File Extract Tool:

1. Launch the Quick Index File Extract Tool

2. Open up the factors drop down. Scroll UP and select 0 Complete History.

3. Use the Folder Icon to navigate to the target folder that contains the Pl_profile.txt file you want to edit.

4. Select A (artificial surface only) as your required surface.

5. Click the "GO" button. The Quick Index File Extract Tool will create a file in your default data folder named pl_Complete_History.txt. This file will only contain data for races on artificial surfaces.

Afterwards, you can copy the newly created pl_Complete_History.txt from your default data folder to your target folder. After renaming the pl_profile.txt file to something else and renaming the pl_Complete_History.txt to pl_profile.txt you will have accomplished the same thing as editing the bad file.

I know how to do what you described above, Jeff, but I want to delete the OSA part of the pl_profile. Building a complete history using D* will not eliminate A, right?

OK - I see where you're coming from. You want to create a file containing starters that ran on NATURAL surfaces not Artificial.

I can add an "N" (for natural surface) to the surface drop down of the Quick Index File Extract Tool. Same steps as what I posted above except you select N (for natural Surface) and the newly created file only contains races run over natural dirt and turf. It'll include SAX turf races but not poly. If you absolutely have to have no SAX races whatsoever in the PlayList file the best way is to remove the SAX data & results files from the target folder and rebuild from scratch.

Give me about 20 minutes and then visit the Downloads Forum.

I've updated the download package with a revised Quick Index File Extract Tool. Give it a try.

Just a quick update...

I added a new option to the Quick Index File Extract Tool: 14.5 Avoid Track

It enables the user to create Quick Index Files where individual tracks and lists of tracks (where individual track codes are separated by dashes... SAX-OSA-HOL-DMR-GGX) are excluded from the newly created file.

Expect to find this in the next program update that I publish - most likely tonight.
