Is it possible to mark horses with certain factors (in color) without using SQL UDM/Data Window?

• SQl Mode - UDMs pretty much are the mechanism for making horses with user defined attributes stick out on Html Reports.

• Playlist File Mode - UDMs are the primary way to make horses with user defined attributes stick out on Html Reports.

In Playlist File Mode you also have the ability to set Overlay Highlighting on the User Sys Defs Screen. Here you are highlighting JPR(1) and CPace(1) horses when MLOR3 is greater than or equal to a user defined point.

I'm spinning my wheels here and need some assistance. Why do I get a 'no value given error' when I try to create a UDM using MLOR5?

SELECT * FROM STARTERHISTORY
WHERE MLOR5 > 1.30
AND RANKUPR = 1

MLOR3 works fine, but I plan on running in SQL mode and I want it to match the MLOR5 in the HTML RPT.

MLOR5
First, an odds line is calculated using the following formula:

OL = (1 / UPRMLProb) - 1

MLOR5 is a ratio equal to Morning Line Odds divided by the above OL.

You can add MLOR5 to a SQL Mode UDM by adding two lines like this:


  AND UPRMLPROB > 0 
  AND MLINE / ((1/ UPRMLPROB) -1) >= 1.60

The first line insures records returned by the query have UPRMLProb greater than zero.

Without the first line, the second line could result in a division by zero error if the horse being evaluated happens to have a zero value for UPRMLProb.

The second line merely performs the Odds Line calculation - in this case filtering out horses with MLOR5 less than 1.60

Example:
