Where are you playing this fall and winter? |
JustRalph 9/13/2009 7:20:42 PM | just wondered where everybody is planning on playing this fall/winter.
I have sworn off the boutique meets like Keeneland.......but look forward to finding some place to play this winter. I actually prefer winter racing........less tracks, more horses etc.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My best meets this year were KEE, OPX, DMR, the two day Breeder's Cup meet, AQU, and TAM.
Not that AQU on the inner is a boutique meet.
In my case I think a big part of the reason for success at the above meets, while struggling a little bit at places like REM and RDX has everything to do with pool liquidity. There's certainly a lot of public money in the pools of the above meets.
By way of contrast I remember the frustration I felt one night while I was trying to bet one or two races from Assinoibia Downs. With about 3 mtp the total amount sitting in the win pool was under $600.00.
In talking to members from some of the world's largest volume computer teams, with the exception of DMR, some of (and in some cases all of) the offshore rebate houses don't have access to the above track signals. So believe it or not whales face obstacles too. They have trouble getting money down at some tracks. It's a point of frustration for them.
Analogy time...
Even though the ocean is full of sharks...
When I can I like to swim in the lagoon where I know there aren't as many.

Field size and quality of horses are a determining factor in where I play.
In the Fall:
KEE, CDX, OSA
Winter:
TAM, SAX, CRC (December only), FGX, and GPX
I like to have grass racing available, even in the winter.
