PP's ......... what do you use? |
JustRalph 11/6/2008 4:35:35 PM | I have been using PP's printed in Equisim from Bris/DRF files for the last 7 years. I just upgraded my computer to Vista 64 and Equisim will not run on Vista 64, so I am looking for some new PP's to start using.
Any suggestions from my fellow Jcappers?

I seldom ever look at past performances anymore, but PP Generator should give you what you need from Bris.
Have you contacted Nathan to see if he can get Equisim to work on Vista 64? In the past, he has gone out of his way for his users and if I remember correctly you know him personally.
Hope that helps,
Bill

There's a couple of threads over on the ES board talking about vista. I like that form view, just never have printed it.

Q. Have you tried installing Microsoft Access on that same machine?
If I remember right XP initially had the same issue you are describing for 64 bit Vista: Jet Ole based MDAC wasn't supported/wouldn't install.
But Access would install on XP and came with its own Jet Ole DB driver. Third party apps like JCapper ran just fine on those machines once Access was installed. An Access install had the same effect as installing a Jet Ole enabled MDAC.
After getting tons of complaints M$oft finally caved and made it so that Jet Ole enabled MDAC would install on XP. But until that happened - if I remember right - lots of people got around the Jet Ole driver issue simply by installing Access.
I'm thinking if all else fails that might be worth a try.

JustRalph 11/7/2008 4:03:04 PM | Thanks guys........
I have access on the machine. I think Equisim looks specifically for the Jet Database before it will run.........therein lies the rub...... I have always just liked using the PP view that Equisim provides.....and of course the simulator some too........
I am tinkering, and downloading PP generator as I type......
BTW, if anybody is interested, the new Intel quad machine is incredible. I can do tons of stuff at the same time. Jcapper no longer sucks up all the clock cycles on the processor etc. Of course that makes sense since there is double the processing power on the new machine..........
