Integrity Check and Help... |
SILVER01HDW 2/19/2025 8:17:54 AM | I was going thru a check and found there was more winners than there should be....
One track , for example , is AQU From Jan 5 to Feb 9 , there were 48 races on Sundays My data window showed 52
Looking deeper , I found days were there were 2 winners in a race..
Jan 5 ... Race 5 Jan 12...Race 5 Jan 26...Race 4 Feb 2.....Race 2
There's my difference , 4 extra....
Can someone check this ... FYI , I did a rebuild of 2025 QTR 1 ...2 times

SILVER01HDW 2/19/2025 10:26:53 AM | OK...
Did a deep dive....
Found out these extra 4 winners are results of an "entry" If an entry horse wins they both won
Both horse are getting credit for the Win....???
Are the horses that didn't win going into JCapper Program as a "winner" with its stats?
your call Jeff

SILVER01HDW 2/19/2025 11:17:21 AM | Heres another check that anyone can do ...
Use 7-4-24 date Finger Lakes (FLX)
There were 8 races that day....
See if you have 10 winners showing.... ok heres the deal , I estimate about 250 more races in JCapper than actual in 2024 ...most likely is at tracks that has lots of entries , like AQU....is it going to break you or do you want/need your stats being the most accurate?

jeff 2/19/2025 5:29:58 PM | You can stop now.
Yes. You are describing the way the current program behaves.
And yes, not only am I aware of it, addressing it has been on my need to do list for several years now.
Link to a thread about this from 2021: http://www.jcapper.com/MessageBoard/TopicReader.asp?topic=2394&forum=Private
Addressing this is more complicated than it looks at firstglance.
The area that handles coupled entries in the original JCapper source code (from the early 2000's) has grown too large.
Add one more line of code and the Main Module won't run.
Addressing it means a complete rewrite of the source code in that area in the Main Module and the equivalent in the Data Window.
In layman's terms:
Each of the big parts (and they are BIG) needs to be strategically broken down into multiple smaller parts followed by a recompile.
I haven't taken it on because time spent on new features and new factors have greater importance - at least to me.
That said, I did create a new feature that addresses this in the Data Transformations Tool of the 2025 JCX File Exports Tool.
It's a checkbox, that when clicked just before exporting StarterHistory table data to .csv file:
Screens out races with dead heats and coupled entries from the exported .csv file.
The objective behind that and the many other available data transformations?
Your stat package is analyzing a .csv file that contains a clean data set.
That's the functionality (building statistical models from clean data) that matters to me.
