I was clued into this last night when a race dist change showed up (out of the blue) in the scratches and changes xml a little after 10:00 pm eastern...

Check out the chartcaller comments in the chart data for Belterra R7 Sat 06-30-2018:

Race inadvertently run at the wrong distance because they put the starting gate in the wrong place. (Fyi, that's the second time for Belterra in the past 10 days.)

This morning I downloaded the BTP0615F.TXT chart file anyway -- and looked at the data inside the file -- no times for R7.

Best to hold off including results data for BTP 06-30-2018 in a DB Build routine for a few days...

I'll come back to this thread and post an update after Equibase publishes a corrected chart

I'm guessing they did time the race -- or at least tried to.

But the "times" they have won't make a whole lot of sense -- at least not at first glance.

If they didn't realize the gate was in the wrong place:

I'm guessing the time they captured for the opening quarter (440 yds) is actually time for distance a half furlong less than that (330 yds.)

In any event - I'll come back to this thread and post an update once I know more.

A quick update --

Equibase chart for this race remains unchanged:

Times are still missing.

Final update...

I contacted Equibase myself and asked them about the missing times in the chart data for BTP 06-30-2017 R7.

Here is a cut and paste taken from their email back to me:

"With the rail at 20 feet and the poor video from Belterra, getting accurate race times would be nearly impossible."

Can't say I blame them.

Im going to download the BTP0630F.zip file and include it in my next db build routine.

Going forward, as horses that ran in this race come back to race again - I'll treat their running lines same as I normally do when pieces of the data are missing (just like I would for fog, etc.)

Suggest you guys do the same.
