jeff 9/13/2013 9:06:48 PM | They'll probably get the requested dates Mike.
On a related note, and for benefit of those of you who may not know: Takeout at Los Al is 1.75% higher for every wager type than Cal tracks conducting (primarily) thoroughbred meets such as DMR-GGX-HOL-SAX.
I am one of 100's of names on an email distribution list for a mass email blast (mostly related to Cal Racing) that goes out almost daily.
One of the questions raised on today's email back and forth was: If granted dates to conduct a thoroughbred meet, would Los Al seek to keep their takeout 1.75% higher than thoroughbred meets conducted at DMR-GGX-HOL-SAX?
Believe it or not, the answer that came back was: NO.
Apparently, language in the CA business and professions codes for horse racing specifies that the 1.75% "fee" be imposed on non thoroughbred meets only.

mikejlb 9/23/2013 1:14:14 AM | I think they got some dates and are also planning to make the track 1 mile. I'm pretty sure that will require extending it to the west. I hope they get that finished before the meets in 2014. There has been an speculation that they would sell some of the land to a trucking company and they would extend the street behind my house through the Los Al grounds from Cerritos to Katella for better access for trucks. I belong to a group who stopped the rezoning from "open space" to industrial. They're not about to give up on that idea because the land would be worth so much more with zone changes. They will not give up easily on the truck terminal but we are determined to stop them. The race track extending west far enough to be in the way of a new street would make me more comfortable. We do not want trucks in this area.
