2013 Belmont |
jeff 6/8/2013 4:45:49 PM | A little less than 1 hr to post. Had some free time between races and decided to post...
#12 PALACE MALICE My top UPR horse in the race. Likely to press the pace. At 15/1 MLine offers a chance to upset at an overlaid price.
#9 REVOLUTIONARY My 2nd ranked UPR horse in the race. Likely to be closing late. At 9/2 MLine I will look to use underneath in the exotics. #5 ORB My 3rd ranked UPR horse in the race. Derby winner. 3/1 MLine favorite. Will probably be on top of everybody's ticket (but not mine.) Willing to include underneath in exotics - but will look elsewhere for value on top.
#11 VYJACK My 4th ranked UPR horse in the race. 5f bullet work on June 4th indicates sharpness. Draw a line through the Derby running line (too close to hot pace in race that fell apart) and look for a better effort today. At 20/1 Mline, offers chance at an upset.
#7 OXBOW My 5th ranked UPR horse in the race. Preakness winner and pace factor here. 5/1 and 3rd choice in the MLine. Willing to include underneath in exotics - but will look elsewhere for value on top.
#14 GOLDEN SOUL My 6th ranked UPR horse in the race. Derby runner up and 10/1 MLine. Willing to include underneath in exotics - but will look elsewhere for value on top.
#13 UNLIMITED BUDGET My 7th ranked UPR horse in the race. 8/1 MLine. Filly in against the boys. Willing to include underneath in exotics - but will look elsewhere for value on top.
Good luck to all,
-jp

pdavid6 6/8/2013 6:15:25 PM | Great call Jeff. I had Palace Malice as the only flagged UDM which was foundation build off of QSpd, so I got the Win/Place money, however I just missed the exacta and tri because I had Oxbow and Orb backwards. Still a great Belmont day!

Tom C 6/8/2013 6:37:13 PM | I had 4 UDMs picking Palace Malice and 3 picking Oxbow. No other horse had more than 1 UDM. JRating had 12-7-11-5 and JPR had 12-5-7. I use Playlist mode with BRIS files.
As usual, thanks Jeff, for JCapper.

GlennF 6/8/2013 6:59:05 PM | I have been away from betting for a long time because it was just taking up too much of my time. When I turned on the TV and saw the Belmont stakes were on i remembered I had some money left in my betting account but no time to do any handicapping so I logged in to see if Jeff had made any picks. His picks seemed sound so I went all in with his top pick across the board. . . . . THANKS JEFF!

Charli125 6/10/2013 9:37:11 AM | I hit the Pick 4 a few times, and a win bet on Palice Malice, but missed all of the in-race exotics. I played against Orb and Oxbow, so despite keying Palice Malice, no tri, exa, or spr.
Profitable day though, and I spent 5 minutes putting together my tickets since I was traveling, so no complaints here.
I have to say that Orb really skunked me this year. In the Derby I had the top 5, with the exception of Orb, so a big loss. In the Preakness I nailed the top few, but needed Orb to hit the board to get paid, small loss. And finally in the Belmont I needed Orb and/or Oxbow to finish off the board, decent profit. Overall down for the Triple Crown, purely due to Orb!

Charlie James 6/10/2013 3:49:22 PM | Going over my betting records from this year's Triple Crown races and discovered the following piece of info buried among the MANY tickets I played:
Preakness: JPR1-JPR2 cold exacta, 15/1 on top of 8/1, $301.40 for $2.00
Belmont: JPR1-JPR2 cold exacta, 13/1 on top of 10/1, $323.50 for $2.00
I've been betting on horses since 1951. In all that time I can't ever recall seeing or hearing about a system or method of handicapping that actually hit cold exactas in back to back Triple Crown races.
The odds of it happening have to be off the charts.
The fact that it happened is simply amazing if you think about it.

pdavid6 6/11/2013 1:28:43 PM | If I'm correct JPR 1-3 finished 1, 2, 3 tri straight. Impressive!
