Charlie James 3/2/2013 11:04:51 PM | Question for Jeff --
In today's PAIHL contest, Gulfstream R10, it appears you guys deliberately went after a 50-1 shot.
Can you shed some light on your reasoning behind this pick?
Btw, you almost pulled it off (runner up finish at 50-1.)
Thanks,
Chuck

jeff 3/3/2013 11:59:00 AM | Sure.
Rather than post my thought process here (publicly) I've started a new thread in the private area of the board.

JustRalph 3/29/2013 5:04:49 AM | Just for the record......... I am on the M Team
I was drafted on the last day by CJ and his DAD because they didn't have a 3rd.
We won the contest a few weeks back and have been in the top 10 or so since.
I have nailed a few good ones in the contest including at 45 dollar horse that Jcapper loved.....
Craig has nailed some nice ones too..........but Just wanted to chime in........Jcapper is on our team too.....via me.
|
JustRalph 4/2/2013 9:38:27 PM | 2nd place this last weekend...........clinched a playoff berth........
|
Charli125 4/3/2013 10:28:44 AM | I'm rooting for both of your teams! I like the long season format too, really separates the men from the boys.
Good luck!
|
STUBALL 4/3/2013 5:41:31 PM | It has been a long season of nice hits in the beginning and lots of almost --almost -- almost. LOL still time to make the playoffs (hoping) stuball

Charlie James 4/14/2013 10:46:06 AM | PAIHL Regular Season Results: http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102508
See post #3 at the above link. For the second time in three years Team JCapper completed the 15 week contest with top honors in money earned -- besting 42 other teams in that category. Well done gentlemen.
Ralph, you pointed out Jeff's wasn't the only team with a JCapper 'influence' in this thing. Good luck to your team, JimG's team, and any other team with a JCapper influence in the playoffs.

jeff 4/14/2013 9:03:17 PM | For some reason, after reading this thread I feel the need to post something along the following lines...
While Chuck is technically correct in that a JCapper team had the highest money earned among the participating teams - we did not (repeat not) win the Paceadvantage PAIHL contest. In fact we didn't even make the playoffs.
I wanted to make that clear so that someone reading this thread didn't come away with the wrong impression.
I do want to say THANKS to Don (Stuball) and Wayne (Parshooter) for stepping up to the plate. You guys were there, every Saturday for 15 straight weeks - handicapping races - and coming up with some really good picks.
We did have our moments and top money earned isn't a bad thing.
Ralph and Jim, good luck the rest of the way. Knock a few out of the park!

CLDavisMD 4/17/2013 9:18:18 AM | Like JustRalph, I am the JCapper "influence" on Team Overlay.
We finished the regular season in 3rd place (out of 43) teams, and along with "The M Team" that JustRalph is on, we earned a 1st round playoff bye. Our results this past month have been average at best, so we are really lucky that The M Team and others did not pass us.
Anything can happen when we compete in round two on 04/27, but we are pleased with our overall finish in the regular season, and will give it our best shot.
To comment on the JCapper team's finish, it is a great accomplishment to have won the highest amount of money (out of 43 teams) over the duration of the regular season. This is a tribute to both the strength of the JCapper program, as well as the handicapping abilities of all the team members. Unfortunately, contests are an unusual animal and the specific rules and measurement mechanisms are not always in perfect alignment with the real world of handicapping. Thus, one can be very successful in one, but not in the other. In contests, I also believe the "luck" factor is more significant than in the real world, as the number of plays are greatly limited, or you are forced to play specific races rather than having complete freedom to choose as you wish.

JimG 4/17/2013 6:52:39 PM | Thanks for the wishes Jeff. And good luck to the other guys playing on teams and using the "Jcapper influence". I have tried many different software tools over the years, but always come back to JCapper. It is so rock solid. As is Jeff. We are lucky to have him in our corner.

JustRalph 5/2/2013 1:05:22 AM | We got knocked out in the 2nd playoff week
It was a great run though.
We actually achieved a bye without playing the first week.
Good luck to those moving forward!
|
CLDavisMD 5/12/2013 12:47:34 AM | We also were knocked out in the semi-finals, missing the cut by about $25, and finishing one spot back of Ralph's team.
While we obviously are disappointed, it was a very good run, thanks in part to the benefit of JCapper.
