Today I decided to bite the bullet and update Scratch Bot with its own UI (user interface) to the trackabbreviations table.
Long story short, there have been quite a few new installs where something (either a firewall and/or security suite is preventing auto registration of the msbind dlls needed by the older datasheet (msdatgrd.ocx file) interfaces.
The only place in JCapper where the datasheet is still used as the primary user interface is user data entry for the trackabbreviations table in Scratch BOT.
There are two other places in JCapper where the user can use a datasheet if desired: The Profile Table Interface and the IVTable Interface.
However, superior options for access to those two tables has existed in JCapper for years (through the UDM Wizard and the IVTable Wizard also known as UPR Tools.)
Today, I created a newer version of Scratch BOT that no longer uses a grid control (which requires separate registration of the dlls.)
The newer module presents the user with a simple interface designed to facilitate data entry directly to the trackabbreviations table.
The new UI (user interface) employs textboxes and a save button.
There are also buttons for paging through all current records in the table as well as buttons for creating a New record, Deleting an exisiting record, and (finally) Finding a specific record by track code.
You can get to a download link to the new module by logging into the JCapper message board and visiting the program downloads page.
From the program downloads page, download the Special Version of Scratch BOT released 8/26/2011 or later.
Save the file to your c:\JCapperBuild folder and double click to run the self extractor.
The new module is compatible with current program versions of both JCapper Silver and JCapper Platinum.
Install of the new module requires nothing more than closing all open JCapper program windows and running the extractor.
There are no table imports and/or db builds required provided you've kept current with the 2011 program updates.
Feel free to take it for a spin and let me know what you think.
Enjoy,
